4. Ready to Take Off

"Position and hold" on runway 8.

This isn't the greatest picture, but those are mountains ahead. The fuzziness is actually haze. This is about as clear as the L.A. basin gets.

It's hard to make out, but the 737 that landed in the previous picture is turning off the far end of the runway.
