My "Next" First Solo Flight My first solo flight in a small airplane occurred in Prescott, Arizona on October 17, 1979. I obtained my Private Pilot Certificate on April 4, 1980. I continued flying for another four years and earned my Instrument Rating on July 13, 1984. Shortly after getting my Instrument Rating, I stopped flying completely. My next flight in a small airplane was on November 23, 1996 (a 12+ year gap). After a couple of false-starts, I finally reacquired my currency as a Private Pilot and took my "next" first solo in Orlando, Florida on March 4, 1999. It was nearly 15 years after the last time I had acted as Pilot-in-Command and almost 20 years after my "first" first solo. The pictures here commemorate my "next" first solo flight. I am now actively flying again and plan to reacquire my instrument currency soon. It's been a long time coming and it sure feels good.
